This Cookie Policy explains how Greenfinch AI, Inc. ("Greenfinch," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies, local storage, and similar browser-storage technologies on our website and platform at greenfinch.ai and app.greenfinch.ai (the "Service"). It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes our broader data practices, including the product usage telemetry summarized below.

What this policy covers

Greenfinch does not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site behavioral-advertising trackers, or third-party analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics) on the Service. What follows is the complete, current inventory of the browser storage the Service sets: essential authentication cookies, and browser local storage used to remember your interface preferences. We keep this list accurate as the Service changes; if a future feature adds a new cookie or storage category, we will update this Policy before it goes live.

Essential cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function. They are set by our authentication provider, Clerk, to manage sign-in and session security. Without these cookies, you cannot sign in or stay signed in.

CookiePurposeDuration
`__session`Manages your authenticated sessionSession
`__clerk_db_jwt`Secure authentication token used to validate your sessionSession
`__client_uat`Records when your Clerk client was last updated, so a signed-out browser is recognized correctly1 year

We do not use analytics, advertising, or functional cookies. The preferences described below are stored in your browser's local storage instead of a cookie, so they are not sent to our servers on every request and are not visible to us unless you are signed in and viewing your own account.

Local storage (interface preferences)

Local storage lets your browser remember choices you make in the Service between visits. Unlike a cookie, local storage is not transmitted with every request — it is read only by the page itself. The Service currently uses local storage for:

KeyPurpose
`theme`Remembers your light/dark mode preference (set by the interface theme control)
`greenfinch_map_label_metric`Remembers your preferred map label metric
`greenfinch_map_legend_open`Remembers whether the map legend panel is expanded
`propdash-visible-columns` (and a per-user variant)Remembers which property-table columns you have chosen to show
`pipeline_swipe_hint_seen`Remembers that you have already seen the pipeline swipe-gesture hint, so it is not shown again
`greenfinch_enrichment_queue`Tracks in-progress enrichment requests you started, so their status survives a page reload
`greenfinch_active_filters`Remembers your active search/map filters
`greenfinch_contacts_view`Remembers your preferred contacts list view
`greenfinch_organizations_view`Remembers your preferred organizations list view
`property_saved_searches` (per-user variant)Stores your saved searches locally for quick access

Most of these values are cleared automatically when you sign out, so a different person signing in on the same browser does not inherit your account-specific preferences. Two display-only settings persist across sign-out because they carry no personal or account information: your `theme` (light/dark) choice and whether the map legend panel is expanded (`greenfinch_map_legend_open`).

Product usage telemetry

When enabled, Greenfinch records first-party, cookie-free usage telemetry (feature-use and performance events) to help us improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. This telemetry does not use a cookie or a persistent browser identifier — it is keyed to a temporary, in-memory per-tab session identifier that is discarded when the tab closes, and to your signed-in account identifier when you are logged in. Telemetry is off by default and is only active when we have enabled it. See our Privacy Policy for the full description.

Error monitoring

We use an error-monitoring service to help us detect and fix bugs. It does not set tracking cookies or perform session-replay recording. It may associate an error report with your signed-in account identifier and limited request context so we can diagnose the issue.

Third-party payment pages

When you complete a purchase, Stripe's hosted checkout and billing-portal pages may set their own cookies on stripe.com domains to process your payment securely. Those cookies are not set by Greenfinch and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy, not this one.

Managing cookies and local storage

Essential authentication cookies cannot be disabled without losing the ability to sign in. If you disable cookies in your browser, you will not be able to use the authenticated parts of the Service.

Most browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies and local storage through their settings:

Clearing local storage for greenfinch.ai or app.greenfinch.ai will reset your saved interface preferences to their defaults; it does not affect your account, Customer Data, or credit balance, which are stored on our servers.

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the technology, cookies, or local storage the Service actually uses. We will post updates here and update the "Last updated" date above. If a future change would add a new tracking technology not described here, we will update this Policy before that change takes effect.
